HID Australia was established to service the Australian and Pacific Island region for Energy Storage products and solutions, and Solar PV variable speed drive (VSD) “Solar Drive” products, for Solar PV pumping applications using Hitachi VFD drive technology.

Typically we work with renewable energy Solar PV integrators and EPC companies to provide optimized solutions for the end user.

The HITACHI AVRLA battery has been developed in Japan specifically for Wind and Solar PV applications under the Japanese Department of New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization’s “NEDO” program.

The battery is arguably at the forefront of advanced valve lead acid technology with over 40MWh of installed capacity in wind and solar applications since 2001 with zero cell failures reported.

Designed for maintenance free operation with up to 17 year life expectancy, and can operate in partial state of charge between 30% and 90% SoC (DoD 60%) with periodic equalization required. It is a robust technology able to operate in the harsh conditions of Australia with temperature rating up to 45°C, although operation in the range 25°C to 30°C is highly recommended to ensure long life. Also providing we think, the lowest $/kWh-life for time-shift of energy, from an established technology and tier 1 multinational brand.

We can provide bespoke containerized solutions meeting all local regulatory and environmental requirements. Supply options include; (1) basic ESS DC backbone (battery, fitted insulated container, DC power train), allowing the integrator to install and configure locally sourced AC powertrain equipment (2) ESS including AC powertrain (turnkey).  

Project highlights include 360kWh grid connected containerized ESS installation in Queensland February 2016, for Solar PV export limitation, grid import reduction, demand charge reduction. Largest installation to date, 1.1MWh grid connected containerized ESS. Most remote installation was Diesel/PV/ESS Hybrid system for mine site in Tanzania for E.ON Energy.
